Dress agencies in London: who takes what, and their cut

These are London shops that take good clothes, shoes and bags in person and sell them on your behalf, paying you a share when they go. Every address and selling term below comes from the shop's own website, and so do the opening hours wherever a shop publishes them. We checked them all in October 2026. Where a shop doesn't publish its hours or commission, we say so rather than guess.
Chelsea, Knightsbridge and Fulham
Sign of the Times, Chelsea
Where: 5 Elystan Street, SW3 3NT. South Kensington or Sloane Square station.
Open: Monday to Saturday 10am to 6pm, Sunday 12pm to 5pm.
Takes: contemporary and luxury designer clothing, women's shoes, handbags, fine jewellery, belts, scarves and watches, ideally one to three seasons old. Vintage only from Chanel, Hermès and Louis Vuitton.
Cut: up to 80% to you, rising with the selling price.
Sign of the Times says it has around 50 years of resale experience, and sells online as well as from the Chelsea shop. Ring or email to arrange a drop-off. Prices can be cut after two months, by up to 30% at first and more the longer an item sits, and you are paid monthly by bank transfer.
Pandora Dress Agency, Knightsbridge
Where: 16 to 22 Cheval Place, SW7 1ES. Knightsbridge station.
Open: Monday to Saturday 10am to 7pm, Sunday 12pm to 6pm.
Takes: designer labels in as-good-as-new condition, no more than two years old. Chanel, Hermès and Louis Vuitton are exempt from the age limit.
You leave items at an agreed price and collect your money once they sell. On a first visit, Pandora asks you to phone ahead to check your pieces are suitable. The commission isn't published, so ask when you call.

No appointment needed. Deuxième takes items seven days a week, until 4pm Monday to Saturday and 3pm on Sunday. Pieces stay out for eight weeks, dropping 25% after six. The shop suggests you can expect roughly 10% to 25% of the original retail price. Its site shows conflicting hours, so the newer ones are given here.

Its site gives two sets of hours, so these are the ones on its home page. Drop in with your items, no appointment needed. Re-Find agrees a price with you, shows pieces in the shop for six weeks, then gives you two more weeks to collect anything unsold, with no fee. It describes its commission as variable and agreed after discussion, so terms are on request.

How dress-agency consignment works
Most shops above follow the same broad pattern, set out in their own terms.
- Ring first. Several take drop-ins, but many want a call on your first visit or only check stock at set times. Designs, for example, sorts items four times a week.
- Season matters. Most only take what suits the time of year, so bring coats in autumn and linen in spring. Deuxième starts taking autumn stock from August.
- Clean and recent. Expect to be turned away with anything stained, unwashed, or more than two or three years old, unless it's a classic from Chanel, Hermès or Louis Vuitton.
- Unsold items come back to you, briefly. Display periods run from six weeks to several months, followed by a short window to collect. Miss it and some shops give your things to charity.
- Payment is usually monthly. Bank transfer is the norm. Designs still pays cash or cheque if you prefer.
